Eden's Light is a collection of photographs that take shape in our domestic space. Pictured here, are quiet, everyday moments captured in a yard, in neighborhood streets, and within the rooms of our house. I am interested in the ways we see the world, and the lenses we look through, the transformation that takes place leading us to a deeper level of awareness -- in this case my lens is my daughter, Eden. The images are made through digital capture and printed on a metallic rag paper. When the print is handled the light gently reflects off the surface of the print. Photography always returns me to the transformative moments.
A fact that is not lost on me is that Eden's name draws a correlation to the biblical Garden of Eden. A paradise once lost, to be found again, as each moment within our space gives rise to the magical. Every flower, each insect, can be appreciated as it goes about its day in the light of the sun, with or without us. Moments of reverence are waiting between the blades of grass, in the dirt that supports them, behind the bedroom curtain or the particles of dust floating over the stairs. Sometimes I imagine a veil between the actual world and the photographed world. When you make the photo, the worlds combine, and the beauty is revealed.
