2015 Caucus Application Portfolio

I have rented a Paris apartment in the Marais for 2 weeks each summer for several years. The interior design is eclectic, romantic, nostalgic, of another era. The life of the owner, the life that becomes part of my being during this time, is certainly the essence of diversity in comparison with my own Mid-West USA existence. To unify in an eerie but tangible manner with another man through the adoption of his domicile as my own, becomes an opportunity to take flight in both imagination and emotional connection. Through the creation of these small SX-70 gestures, excavating through light and shadow a reality that is revealed as more in the realm of the fantastical, there is to be found a physical connection to both the imagination and to another human being. In every sense of the phrase, they reflect and reveal essential natures in another, in me, and in the place of imagination that exists in between, My Paris.
