about

Noah S. Thompson is an image maker and storyteller investigating the rituals and relics that connect landscapes and memory-keeping. Their practice, motivated by a sense of wonder and loss, embraces the alchemical nature of photography by using alternative processes to explore themes of transformation. Literature, poetry, and folklore also inspire Noah's work, offering a means of meditation as they investigate the markers, meanings, and mythologies given to the natural word. They examine the prosaic and abandoned, inviting others to reflect, remember, and imagine.

Noah is a New England-based artist, raised in Oregon and New Mexico. They received an M.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Connecticut and a dual B.A. in English and Art & Art History from Dickinson College. Exhibition venues include Hampden Gallery, Forbes Library, Distillery Gallery, William Benton Museum of Art, Mattatuck Museum of Art & History, Strata Gallery, Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts, Da Vinci Art Alliance, and birds + Richard Gallery Berlin. Noah's work has been supported by a fellowship at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Ford/Knauth Fellowship for LGBTQIA+ Artists at the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, and a UConn Zachs Award.
