Dorothy, In Pictures

This is a subseries of the larger series, Azalea Original. Dorothy Lou Thompson has been a focal point of my research for the last several years. She was the heir to the Azalea Original Pet Cemetery and a tragic figure. Opposite of her mother, she never sought the limelight. In my research of her life, I could not find a single positive memory of her held by those who knew her. I sought to understand her through the language of visual imagery. She lived a life relatively obscured, and relatives cut her out of family photos. In years of research, I have only been able to find her in four images. In none of these images does she confront the camera. The camera is non-existent, unworthy of her attention. She is looking elsewhere. This series is an attempt to understand her in a new light.
