"Mutualism" explores a relationship between science and art. Using scanning electron and stereoscopic microscopes, I enlarge specimens and reveal a world of fascinating form. Tight imaging of organic specimens and the manipulation of their color and space transform minute matter into archival pigment and tri-color gum bichromate prints. Multiple scans of one subject are digitally collaged and enhanced with layers of vibrant hues. Scale and color are no longer the intrinsic property of the natural world but a reflection of artistic subjectivity.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
