about

Kristina Smith is a narrative photographer and artist whose creative research explores themes such as of memory, story telling, and the human condition. Her most recent body of work titled Evidence of Existence, explores the subjects of memory and family narrative. This body of work is an autobiographical exploration examining the memories of childhood stories and her identity within her family. The images included in the series document both her memories and constructed imagery from childhood tales. She received her BFA from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, and received her MFA from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX. She currently resides in Greenville, NC where she is a Visiting Instructor of Photography. Her photographs have been exhibited both regionally and nationally in venues such as Rayko Gallery, 500X Gallery, and The Midwest Center for Photography.
