Photographic-objects and how they transform their subjects fascinate me. Particularly, I am interested in photographic meditations on the surface. Society's conflicted relationship with the body and its portrayal is puzzling. Often, the body is a contentious and violent vessel, yet essential in defining social identity and ego. Photographs in the media heavily influence self-image. However, pop culture's depiction of the body is under constant scrutiny. I consider these relationships while working: forming the photograph directly to the body, taking snapshots of the nude in the modern landscape, appropriating iconic photos, etc. Images made by lenses and light are always captivating and the camera is an indispensable tool. However, I have no allegiance to any particular process, and invariably my attention is directed at the peculiarities of representation.
