David Newman is an artist and educator. He has taught fine arts photography, and printmaking at Brookhaven College since 1980, and served as Gallery Director at Brookhaven College from 1991 to June 2021. He received the Brookhaven College Teaching Excellence Award in 2000 and 2012, and the Dallas County Community College District Teaching Excellence Award in 2012. His work combines analog and digital photography, and printmaking processes, primarily lithography and screenprint. He received the M.F.A. and B.F.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, where he taught Foundations from 1970-1973, and photography from 1975-1978. He maintains an active professional practice, with over 150 one-person and group exhibitions.
