about
Christopher Grinnell has a fascination with photographing social and personal signifiers he encounters in his daily life. Grinnell views his environment as a canvas of cultural expression to be mined for glimpses of truths about modern life and social interaction. His photographs express chance encounters of space, light, and cultural remnants to suggest particular aspects of contemporary culture. He is drawn to manifestations of social commentary and ways in which people communicate or express themselves in the landscape. Grinnell is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology and has MA and MFA degrees from the University of New Mexico. He teaches Photography and AP 2D Design at Northview High School in Covina, CA.
