Visage focuses on the portrait and its function as a method of documenting contemporary culture, preserving memories, and its significance as a part of photographic history. The rapid advancements in the way images are created and shared over the past century have created a world uninterested in the craft and permanence of physical prints; a world where formal portraits are disregarded for the instant gratification of the digital snapshot. I have created images using a mixture of contemporary and historic photographic processes that discuss the rise and fall of the traditional photographic portrait as a tangible keepsake.
