about

My primary focus is helping photographers communicate with Story. Whether it's through their photographs or utilizing their artist statements, Story is a powerful tool to engage audiences and move them to take active roles in our work.

One of the things that photographers struggle most with is having to talk about their work. So much of what we do is instinct and reaction. It can be hard to figure out how to put words behind those experiences. But there is always a story to share, if you know what to look for.

Recently, I had the privilege of presenting at the National SPE conference in Las Vegas in March 2016. Along with this lecture, I launched a blog that will serve as a growing resource to photographers in helping them market themselves through their artist statements. Since 2013, I have served as the Vice Chair/Secretary for the Midwest region of SPE. Currently, I'm also representing the Midwest in establishing SPE's adjunct caucus. I've been teaching part time at Metro Community College in Omaha, NE since 2012. Previously, I spent three years working in a commercial photo studio, while also assisting with wedding videography on occasional weekends.
