See Me is a series of self-portraits that dig into the psyche of representation and self-love. Through the use of the blur I slowly reveal parts of myself that I at times kept hidden. Hidden because of self-doubt, Imposter syndrome and even embarrassment. As black men we are often encouraged to stay calm, speak softly and hide our emotions and feelings. Literally to stay in your prescribed space. This work reclaims the struggles and place that Black men have so often kept from view. See me completely.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
