ICP Photobook Club: Japanese Women Photographers x Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon
Hello,
We hope this finds you well! We're thrilled to announce that the International Center of Photography has organized an upcoming program, ICP Photobook Club: Japanese Women Photographers x Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon, that we would love to share with you and your community. Please find information below:
Join us at ICP this fall for ICP Photobook Club: Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon as it is a public, volunteer-powered session to update Wikipedia entries on gender, feminism, and the arts. This session will focus on Japanese Women Photographers, the Wikipedia editing campaign will continue online through Saturday, December 12.
Connect with fellow photobook enthusiasts, explore ICP's library, and browse photobooks by Japanese women photographers exhibited in I'm So Happy You Are Here: Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now, then edit the Wikipedia pages of the photographers featured in the exhibition, alongside an Wikipedia expert in this special edition of Photobook Club, presented in collaboration with Art+Feminism.
All levels of knowledge and experience are welcome. No Wikipedia editing or art history experience is necessary. ICP and an experienced Wikipedia editor will be on-site to offer tutorials, guidance, and reference materials.
Before you come: Participants need a Wikipedia account to edit entries. If you don't have one, please create an account before the event at auth.wikimedia.org/enwiki/wiki/Special:CreateAccount. Creating more than five accounts from the same internet connection may trigger editing restrictions.
What to bring: your laptop, power cord, and ideas for entries, or browse our Wikipedia-edit wish list.
Browse-only participants are welcome!
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, or feel free to visit icp.org/events for more information!
Best wishes,
ICP Public Programs Team
