Drawn from Memory: Mapping Salt and Time by Margaret LeJeune

The exhibition, Drawn from Memory: Mapping Salt and Time by artist Margaret LeJeune, features photographic-based works that explore significant ecological shifts in the landscape of Dare County, North Carolina. In this region, large areas of dead and dying trees make up ghost forests - visible manifestations of saltwater intrusion. Seeking to better understand these monumental changes in the ecosystem, LeJeune examines the environmental history, mapping the changes brought forth over the last 400 years by colonial capitalism, ensuing extraction economies, and rising sea levels.
