Photographing Conflict

Nearly since its inception, photography has been used as a means to understand the effects of war and trauma, and to elicit empathy for those who suffer from such violence. The three photographers presenting their work in this program all use the photographic image as a means to interrogate how authorities rationalize the cruelty they inflict on those they purport to defend.
