Reimagined Landscapes with Millee Tibbs, Joseph Mougel, and Beihua Guo

SPE Online

As part of the SPE Online virtual programming season, we are happy to present this conversation between SPE Members Millee Tibbs, Josephy Mougel, and Beihua Guo. All three artists use the photographic image to address the political, social, and personal impact of the relationship between humans and the landscapes we live in.

Millie Tibbs will present her projects Mount Analogue and Desert Sublime, examining how the representation of these landscapes embody both transcendence and mediation.

Joseph Mougel's research examines systems and resources, especially regarding landscape interventions that describe a human effort to exert control in a transitory or futile manner. He often allows natural processes to guide the outcome of his projects.

Beihua Guo uses a uranium-based photo process to document landscapes in China that were identified as nuclear targets by the United States Strategic Air Command (SAC) during the height of the Cold War.

The event is free but requires advanced registration- https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/dn-kleH9SQeXTgKkEmZrIw
