Drawing from my experiences as a queer scholar, educator, and activist in my community, I would like to offer insight to my colleagues about strategies that they can use to expand the scope of their courses to include the cultural contributions of those with intersectional experiences and perspectives. The presentation will also address the importance of language, namely identifications and pronouns, as being at the core of in-class communities intent on fostering mutual respect amongst students, as well as between students and teachers.
I will also share information about the SPE Pride Caucus Resource Guide. This document, which addresses LGBTQIA2S+ issues in the field of photography as well as higher education, is an excellent starting point for students, faculty, and allies to learn more about the LGBTQIA2S+ communities and their impact on the field.
Suggested donation of $10.00 for the SPE Pride Caucus.
