Workshop: Sequence and Layout

The Art of the Photobook

The photobook has a rich history within the medium of photography, and yet the surface of this art form has only been scratched.

Over the course of our two days together on Saturday December 5 & Sunday December 6, photographer, book artist, and CPW Digital Lab Manager Juan Madrid will lead you on an exploration of various methods of sequencing photographs as a way to define your vision. You will look at a wide range of photobooks –from commercially published titles to self-published publications - renowned for their impact, and dissect how those photographers used sequencing to dynamic effect.

Afterwards, you will work on making a sequence of your own photographs for a small book in CPW’s Digital Kitchen!

By the end of this workshop, you will have a greater understanding of how to use sequencing as a vessel for your ideas and how the photobook can be utilized as an exciting medium unto itself.

Space is limited. Register early.
