Refining Your Vision

Refining Your Vision: Why you shoot what you shoot.

Work with professional photographer Jeff Zaruba in this unique masters class meant to help the experienced photographer hone their vision and their imagery.

On Friday evening, students would bring in 10 images each. Jeff will lead a discussion on each image, offering ways to simplify the existing image, trying to get to the core of what the most important visual element of the shot is, ways to emphasize that element even more, and why the image was shot in the first place.

On Saturday morning, Jeff will work with each student for 20 30 minutes on their best 4-5 images. Together you and Jeff will use your computer to guide you to create a simpler, stronger visual. At this time, the other students will work on their images using direction from Friday evenings critique.

The last hour of the class, will be spent reviewing the finished images, showing before and afters.

This class would require that students be proficient with their computers and some sort of photo software like photoshop or lightroom.

We will discuss a number of techniques that lead to stronger shots including: lens choice, aperture, shutter speed, angle, and postproduction.
