Robin Michals is a photographer whose work explores the specificity of place with a focus on environmental issues. Trained as a painter, she uses the color of light at the end of the day to bring visual interest to the mundane structures of everyday life. Since 2010, she has been developing Castles Made of Sand, a series about the low-lying communities around New York City that are being impacted by sea level rise. She teaches photography at New York City College of Technology, City University of New York and lives in Brooklyn.
