Home Sweet Home: An Investigation of Nostalgia and Shame

Home Sweet Home explores the relationship I had with my childhood home, which was both tumultuous and imaginative. Our memories follow a narrative pattern that is oftentimes romanticized, fragmented, edited, or haunted. The complexity is overwhelming at times, especially when it comes to my home.
Using the tableau approach to image making and sharing the things I am ashamed of, the complex feelings I have towards my childhood home can be explored. The nostalgic tendency of memory is a major theme in my work, and whether or not the memory is something that has root in reality.
