Betsy Williamson is a photographic/mix media artist and South Asian photography connoisseur from the United States. She completed her MFA in photography and her MA in Art History at the University of North Texas in 2011. In 2006, she completed her BFA in photography at the University of Texas at Arlington. Between 2011 and 2015 she worked as an adjunct professor at various colleges and universities in the Dallas/ Fort Worth, Texas area. In the fall of 2015, she attended the Art Junction Artist Residency in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India.

Williamson explores photography through its history and theory along within the larger context of art history and its theories. She has extensively explored the relationship between photography and art history. Most recently, she has been exploring different facets of photography and place. While it might seem strange, the transition is seamless. While traveling, she has explored art historically relevant sites. This lead to a broader interest she wanted to explore.

Between April 2016 and May 2017, Williamson was back in Udaipur pursuing her artistic and art historical endeavors. While in India, she continued her investigation of travel photography and began exploring photography and identity through a project which deals with the psychological effects of moving abroad. Now back in the United States, she is working on multi-media work dealing with her academic and personal interests in the sub-continent and the archive.
