fostering a long term photographic community
Saturday, October 19 - 1:30PM to 2:30PM
Kingsley Ballroom - North
With the new age of photography what has been created is a new way of seeing and a new way of working together in a field that has always embraced solitude. Those of us who began in this field and studied under the use of film and darkrooms understand just how important those processes are and how important it has become for many to go through it alone.Todays evolving photographic technologies have forced photographers to make changes. We have had to make changes in the equipment we use, how we create business for ourselves. We've had to learn to accept that anyone with a camera phone and instagram can call themselves a photographer. With this new age we've had to open our minds up in order to embrace other possibilities. The idea of collaboration is made easier, because of this.During our panel presentation we will explain what Ticka-Arts is, our mission statement, how we are supporting photography today and why we decided to create this space dedicated specifically for photographic artists. In our presentation we will explain the actual "nuts and bolts" of Ticka-Arts, and how we are different. We excited to share with you our future plans and adventures.(During the panel presentation we will briefly discuss different outreach and photographic collective programs, which we are personally active members of, emphasizing the fact that we do "practice what we preach.")
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
Please join the conversation.
