Workshop with Amy Faris
Friday, October 18 - 10:30AM to 12:30PM
Kingsley Ballroom - South
Combining the Digital with the Handmade
A two-hour, hands-on workshop designed for artists seeking to enrich the textural feel of their digital images. Led by artist Amy Faris, participants will learn how to use acrylic paints, mediums and texture gels to create a variety of surfaces that can be scanned into a digital photo or drawing program such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and then further manipulated or used to enhance photographic imagery. The concept of layering, both with traditional painting materials and within a digital format will be explored as well as the back and forth play between the digital and handmade processes. Everyone will complete a small acrylic piece that can be taken home for scanning and play within their digital platform.
Materials needed: an open mind and sense of humor.
Also, please note, we will be working exclusively with paint and mediums, which can get messy. It would probably best not to wear expensive clothing if you plan to attend! All paint/medium materials for the workshop will be provided through the generous support of Liquitex Acrylics.
