The topic of this conversation will be "The Academic Job Search". Whether you are just out of graduate school and looking for your first position or you have been teaching for many years and considering an institutional move this conversation will encompass all aspects of applying for academic teaching positions. We will address some of the challenges raised by participants and then discuss strategies for improving at all stages of the process which may include: deciphering job descriptions and titles, institutional differences, your "packet" or written materials, first stage interviews, on-campus interviews, negotiating contracts. Our overall aim is to make the search process more transparent through open dialogue and shared experiences. Even if you are not currently on the job market your perspective is valuable to the diversity of our discussion so please join us in this conversation.
