Getting Students Out of the Classroom—Hour 1

Roundtable Conversation

Saturday, November 04 - 1:00PM to 2:00PM
Diamond Peak, Granlibakken Conference Center

The landscape of photography is continually expanding on a global scale. And travel on that global scale is an education and experience that can be compared to no other. A growing trend in education that introduces students to different cultural experiences is a study abroad program or workshop which takes the student out of the classroom. The benefits of these experiences are not for just students but also educators; developed cultural awareness, preparation for increasing globalization and sensitivity to the growing diversity in one's own country. Cultural awareness can and should inform creative decisions. This session will serve to make tools available for educators who would like to build study abroad programs and workshops with the following topics of interest: locations, recruitment tools, proposals, curriculum, networking and collaboration. We will discuss different teaching opportunities, resource building and challenges through our experiences.
