Visual Storytelling for Social Innovation
Saturday, October 19 - 10:00AM to 11:00AM
This workshop is designed for photographic educators and anyone passionate about engaging in an immersive conversation on the role that contemporary photography plays in activism, as well as how to unlock the potential of compelling visual narratives for positive social change. Some questions to be unpacked during the session include: Is photography ever entirely disconnected from social matters? Can all photography works be seen as a form of potential activism? What is the role of the photographer in social reform? Participants will engage in hands-on activities and group discussions to empower them to view photography projects from an elevated perspective and understand their impact on society and culture-building. This workshop will provide tools, inspiration, and space to co-create a learning community to celebrate the photographer's vision of positive social innovation.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
