The Rebirth of Photography in the 21st Century Classroom

Christina's love of Art and Design started at an early age, and she injected creativity into projects whenever possible. Whether it was a hand-painted banner for a student event or a drawing for a friend, she frequently exercised her love of color and art throughout her childhood and young adult years. She studied Psychology for her undergraduate degree, and worked for a year as a recruiter before deciding that she needed to get back to creativity. In graduate school, she studied Interior Design at the University of Houston, focusing mainly on combining graphic design and multimedia into client presentations. Working at PDR Corporation during and after graduate school gave her more experience in the Interior Architecture industry, as well as allowing her to gain experience as an in-house graphic designer. For a time, she worked freelance for small business clients as a photographer, web and graphic designer. During this time, she began teaching as an adjunct and found a passion for teaching. In 2007, she began working at San Jacinto College as an Art Professor. Since then, she has served as Lead Faculty for Art and Design and now Department Chair for Visual and Performing Arts and Physical Education. The artwork she enjoys creating in her free time are medium format color photos and small assemblage sculptures crafted from found vintage objects.
