Creative Lineage: The Significance of Artistic Mentor Relationships
I am Bob Hewitt, Photo Facilities Manager at the College for Creative Studies. I oversee the departments darkrooms, digital labs, studios, equipment and work study. My MFA is from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is in Fiber. I spent 20 plus years in the Photo Industry, mostly in Chicago. Studio work, lab work etc. I've been at CCS since 2003. I have taught Color Theory, Digital Fundamentals, Digital Techniques, Advanced Digital, 3D Printing, Drawing, and currently Photo Chemistry. My photo chemistry class includes alternative processes, cyanotype, van dyke, gum bichromate, and Platinum. In addition, making paper and film developer from raw chemistry and bromide paper emulsion. My own photo work started with analog photography, (still missing Portriga Rapid), lenticular stereo and lots of 4x5 chrome.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
