Katie Carlsen is a photographer originally from Bradenton, Florida. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a Concentration in Photography from Baylor University, and is currently a Master of Fine Arts Candidate at the University of Texas in San Antonio for Photography. She explores the materiality of found photography through collage, highlighting the lost history within the images through themes of memory and family. Katie's work has recently been on display at the Senior BFA Exhibition at the Martin Museum of Art in Waco, Texas, the Climate Crisis Art Exhibition juried by Dr. Alan Northcutt at Art Center Waco in Waco, Texas, the Salon of Rejects at Cultivate 712 in Waco, Texas, and displayed in the Baylor Student Art Exhibitions in the years 2022, 2023, and 2024, all at the Martin Museum of Art in Waco, Texas juried by Susan kae Grant, Ricky Armendariz, and Casey McGarr respectively.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
