"Portrait of my Father. Portrait of Myself"
Saturday, November 08 - 3:00PM to 3:50PM
Marriott, Commonwealth Ballroom
Jay Sullivan's work is a synthesis of photography, psychology and process. He chooses subjects and creative processes that challenge his emotional and psychological boundaries. The artistic process and its effect on Jay and the art is the core of his work.
Glove is a multi-series project where Jay seeks to reconstruct his long estranged and deceased father by photographing the objects and environments he most associates with him. Through the photography of a baseball glove, black wallet, wingtip shoes, zippo lighter and many other long forgotten items and settings, Jay creates a new portrait of his father while confronting deeply held memories and beliefs.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
