19th-20th century giants in photography created images of the homeless which imparted
dignity and established commonality between the destitute and the better-off. In less able
hands, photos of the homeless can be trite, voyeuristic, and exploitative. Viewing work of
late 20th-21st century photographers reveals how contemporary strategies avoid those
pitfalls.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
