An introduction to three projects that address empathy, loss, and memorial practices: Having Been There, an exploration of deceased artists and their legacies; still beneath the surface, a response to Victorian-era post-mortem imagery and mourning objects; and a work-in-progress about individuals who pass away with no next of kin.
