Dialogic Image Maker: Jake Sneath

New Technologies

Friday, November 02 - 9:30AM to 9:50AM
Student Center Ballroom A, University of Kentucky

New Technologies is a series of laser engraved chromogenic prints. Through experimentation
using the laser engraver, I am able to reveal thin layers of color dye located beneath the surface
of the paper. The resulting prints demonstrate my exploration in the use of analogue
photographic materials to produce abstract images. In my presentation, I will describe the
process of laser engraving onto chromogenic paper. I will also discuss my work in relation to
historical and contemporary photographic practices that utilize the image surface as the
location for experimentation, chance happenings, and the sublime.
