Panel Discussion
Saturday, October 06 - 10:00AM to 10:45AM
301 Design Building
In this talk, frequent collaborators Sheffield and Ireland will present their most recent project, Constructing the Psychographic, which focused on the Cambridge Analytica and Facebook scandal. This collaboration represented the physical manifestation of data retrieved and collected over 7 days from the artists' Facebook feeds. This was presented as wallpaper along with other physical and audible components, creating a physical space made of virtual information. Constructing the Psychographic presented the nature of the digital footprints we share so freely on the internet by creating a space inside the news feeds, while questioning the validity of an identity constructed by data mining. Sheffield and Ireland will address the purpose of the installation and the process of addressing contemporary events, while also discussing the methodologies, benefits and pitfalls of working collaboratively.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
