DENNIS KIEL
Dennis Kiel has been Chief Curator at The Light Factory since 2007. Dennis lectures frequently across the country, and has served as a member of the North Carolina Arts Council Visual Artist Fellowship Panel and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Panel. Dennis has also participated in portfolio reviews at Houston FotoFest 2008 and the 2009 Our World Portfolio Review for Photo Alliance, San Francisco. Kiel received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University, Athens, OH and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati. Prior to his coming to The Light Factory, he was the Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs at the Cincinnati Art Museum for 24 years.

CARLA HANZAL
Carla Hanzal, an independent curator and writer, most recently served as the Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC, a position she held for ten years. Hanzal frequently lectures about modern and contemporary art and serves as a juror for national and regional exhibitions. A recipient of a Truman Scholarship, as well as a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, Hanzal is currently a trustee of the International Sculpture Center, the publisher of Sculpture magazine.

LILI CORBUS
Lili Corbus has published widely in the field of photohistory, including her book on the history of social documentary, Photography and Politics: From the New Deal into the Cold War (1999). Before retiring from academe in 2006, she taught art history at UT Austin, Ohio U, U of Montana, and UNC Charlotte. Now an independent scholar, she continues to research, curate, lecture, or publish at diverse venues such as the Jeu de Paume (Paris) on Lisette Model and the Columbus Museum of Art (OH) on "Art in the Red Scare." Her current projects focus on women of the Photo League as well as publishing her interviews with diverse artists since the early 1990s (such as John Cage, Aaron Siskind, among others).

JAE EMERLING
Dr. Jae Emerling is an associate professor of modern/contemporary art in the College of Arts + Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In fall 2011, he was visiting professor of contemporary art in the Faculty of Arts at VU Amsterdam. He holds a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as a B.A. from Wesleyan University. His research focuses on the intersection between modern/contemporary art and critical theory, particularly as it is embodied in the photographic image. His most recent book, Photography: History and Theory (Routledge, 2012), was named Outstanding Academic Title for Photography by Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries.

CHRISTINE SZEREDY
Christine Szeredy was born in Germany and traveled extensively throughout Europe and Northern Africa. Christine specializes in combining a unique blend of environmental, fine art and fashion in her work. http://www.szeredy.com. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Engineering from the in Germany and his Masters of Fine from Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California. Christine's work has been published nationally and internationally in magazines and publications: Select Magazine Fashion Photography Showcase 2012, Creative Quarterly 32, featured Photographer: AX3 American Aperture Awards, first Place, ADDY Awards 2013 (Charlotte Chapter) - Color Photography, American Photography 28, Christine Szeredy, Engineer Turned Artist, Profoto.com Blog, APA Atlanta presents: A Hundred Beautiful Things, The 1,001 Artist Project - Works by 1,001 artists at SCOPE Art Miami. She is presently an Adjunct Professor of Photography at the Art Institute of Charlotte

Brie Castell is the owner and chief curator of Castell Photography inAsheville, North Carolina, one of the south's finest galleries specializing in contemporary photo-based media. Castell works with established and emerging artists from around the globe for exhibition and representation, and brings to Asheville leading authorities in the field of photography for educational programming.

STEVE BENSON
Steven Benson is a Professor and Chair of Interactive Media at the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies, School of Photography at Daytona State College. He received his BFA from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He is the recipient of three Creative Artist Grants from the Michigan Council for the Arts and a NEA/ArtsMidwest Fellowship. Collections include the Museum of Fine Art-Houston, Detroit Institute of Arts, Portland Art Museum, Centre Georges Pompidou and Museet for Fotokunst-Denmark. Steven has been an educator, fine art and commercial freelance photographer for more than 25 years. He serves on the National Board of Directors of the Society for Photographic Education and the Board of Directors of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) - Central Florida. He is interested in reviewing all light based media.

DANIEL KARIKO
Daniel Kariko was born in 1976 in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, now Northern Serbia. He moved to the United States in November of 1994 for political reasons. Kariko received his Bachelor of Arts from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA, and his Masters of Fine Arts in 2002 from Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona. While he was a gradate student he was awarded a residency in Salzburg, Austria in the Summer of 2001. Since 1999, Kariko's images investigated the idea of disappearing and changing landscape. He works on several long-term photographic projects in his homeland of Serbia, recording the aftermath of the war in Balkans. Since 1999 Kariko documented the endangered wetlands and dramatic changes in the landscape in Barataria- Terrebonne region of South Louisiana. His latest projects deal with the issue of land use in Florida, and documentation of the oil spill in Louisiana wetlands. Kariko's work has been shown nationally and internationally in galleries and museums that include: Galerie im Traklhaus, Salzburg, Austria; Zizkov International Photography Festival, Prague, Czech Republic; Gallery Ho, Seoul, South Korea; COCA Seattle, WA; The Light Factory, Charlotte, NC. From 2002 until 2010, Kariko was a faculty at Florida State University Department of Art in Tallahassee, FL. He is presently an Assistant Professor of Photography at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC
