The American Cowboy: You Don't See Him from the Road is a fine art, documentary series about the American cowboy in Wyoming. The word "cowboy" is about attitude, mental toughness, generosity, and grit. This cowboy comes in many forms from generations of ranches. It describes the ones who are up at first light, who stays awake through the night to care for a sick calf or newborn lamb. It's a life lived by men, woman, grandparents, and children who continue to pass the legacy down to the next generation. The project is a visual depiction of the cowboy. It shows the ins and outs of what cowboys deal with. The cowboy life has been a rough life as land becomes dispersed, and as many harsh conditions take a toll on the cowboy. These challenges are making this lifestyle slowly disappear. With groups and laws going against the rancher, many new generations are spreading their wings rather than keep the traditions of the West alive. One day this lifestyle will just be photos in an album or on a museum wall and not be experienced daily by the cowboy. The cowboy will become a story of history.
