Polymer photogravure uses a polymer-coated steel plate instead of the traditional copper or zinc plate. Just as for traditional gravure polymer gravure images are produced using an intaglio press. I will begin with a brief explanation of intaglio printing followed by a summary about how an image is created on the polymer plate. Next I will discuss the techniques used to determine exposure times and how to create a suitable "negative" for use with the plate. I'll have two or three of my plates plus prints for examination so the audience can get a close look. I will finish with a short list of artists currently creating work using polymer photogravure.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
