"I am NOT a Target" is a work in progress and a community art for change collaboration. I photograph activists who show up to communicate that we want change in gun safety legislation. I place targets on their chest, photograph them and include them on posters and banners, and send their collective image to lawmakers to communicate the importance of gun safety. I also photograph people and children where real world events have taken place in regards to the spaces and places where children and guns intersect. i am currently organizing three Art for Change events in Alaska.
I would also like to invite conference participants to pose for change at the end of the presentation if possible.
You can see more about this work on my website. This work was included in the For Freedoms, 50 State Initiative last fall, the first nation-wide collaboration of artists of its kind.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
