Lecture: Appropriated Photography in Album Cover Art

My SPE talk will present a brief history of appropriated photography as it relates to album cover art. I'll include numerous examples from the past 50 years, with special emphasis on William Eggleston and ECM Records. While the talk is mostly a general overview and survey of the field, I will explore some of the ideas, motivations, and theories underlying the special relationship between photography and album covers.
