Glitches are a byproduct of when technology malfunctions. Whether it is a image scrambled by the upload algorithms in social media, a frozen screen on your digital television, or a digital marquee gone totally awry, the aesthetics of these technological mistakes defies the assumption that entertainment and technology offer a seamless experience.
A glitch can happen a few different ways, but the two most common are waiting for it to happen naturally and then documenting it, or by purposefully degrading the code of your files by using the wrong tool for the job. In this workshop participants will download images and videos from the internet and learn how to create different types of glitches or odd visual effects that are almost always one of a kind occurrences.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
