WORKSHOP: Mixed Media Photography with Your Morning Cup

Bridget Conn

Friday, October 10 - 9:00AM to 12:00PM
Jenkins Fine Art Center Rm 1108 and 1109

If you have used tea bags and coffee filters laying around, you have the materials for making unique photographic images with a digital printer. For those who are interested in photography as a starting point for mixed media exploration, come experiment with materials and ideas in this digital and hands-on workshop. rnrnBridget will show images from her Handcrafted Auguries series, and explain her process of printing on alternative papers and then painting into the imagery. We will cover how to safely get non-traditional papers through your printer, what types of printers and inks work best for this process, and how to set up the template file in Photoshop. Participants will be given a small wooden panel to work with the collage process of building large images from multiple small prints, creating at least one finished work. A list of suggested art materials will also be provided to participants, as the potential exists to create three-dimensional works from these papers as well. rnrnParticipants should have basic Photoshop experience, and be able to bring a laptop with this software, as well as digital images of at least 150ppi ready to print. Other than that, bring your tea bags, coffee filters, an unlimited imagination, and a desire to play.rn
