Tom joined the Tennessean staff as the Photo Editor in 1996. Prior to moving toNashville, Tom was the Photo Editor of The Times, in Shreveport, La from 1990-1996.
Early in his career he was a photographer for papers in Texas and Louisiana from 1981-1989. He worked for USA Today in the summer of 1988. Some memorable events were the Cuban Prison Riots in Oakdale, LA in 1987, the 1st time the lights went on at Wrigley Field in 1988 and Super Bowl XXIV in 1990.
He worked as editor for photos from the Tornado that tore through Nashville in April of 1998, photographers work in Tempe, in 1999 when the University of Tennessee won the National Football Championship and he edited and transmitted USA Today photographers work during the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
Tom graduated from Texas A&M/Commerce with a B.A. in Photography, and a minor in Journalism in 1983.
Tom is married and has two children and lives in Franklin, TN.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
