Gender and Viewing

Erin Jennings is a Memphis based image-maker utilizing both filmmaking and photography. She is the co-owner of a film production company that specializes in the documentary form, producing concert films that focus on capturing the gesture of live performance. Her current photographic work analyzes intricacies surrounding the politics of gender and viewing. Jennings graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production in 2001, a Master of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in Politics in Film in 2009, and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography completed in December of 2010. Jennings exhibits nationally, and her images have been featured in SPE Northwest and SPE South Central regional exhibitions. She has been awarded several honorable mentions by the International Photography Awards, and has also been awarded an honorable mention and Bronze Medal by the Venice International Photography Awards. She is currently an instructor of photography at The University of Memphis and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division. Jennings is member of the SPE's Women's Caucus and is a South Central representative for SPE's Multicultural Caucus.
