Performance and photography have long been tied together. Many photographers find their muse in the impulse to create and capture performative moments. The creation of a character, scene, a moment to monumentalize all hinge on the performance being convincing. The performer must be completely in the moment for us to believe.
Wether performing for the camera, for an audience, or directing performers, an understanding of the relationship of the performer to their surroundings is paramount. This workshop will take participants through a series of exercises designed to heighten awareness of self, awareness or space and all that occupies it, and establish a sense of presence. Participants should arrive prepared to physically and mentally engage with the exercises.
