International portraiture can bring up a number of questions about what it means to have permission from a subject to take picture. For the past couple of years I have been taking photographs in Haiti and I have struggled with the ethics of consent. I have many stories about my adventures, which have lead me to consider how I can work with my material to best honor my subjects.
