The light of galaxies we see today started their journey to us millions of years ago, when Earth underwent geological evolutions that will eventually shape the landscapes as we know. For example, the light of Andromeda galaxy, 2.5 million light years away, was emitted when glaciers carved out alpine lakes in the Sierras. To visualize this profound mystery of our natural history through the juxtaposition of the celestial and terrestrial wonders, Mark Chen designed a high power projector, built a library of NASA images and carried them on pilgrimages to the chosen sites to photograph the landscapes altered by his projection of galaxies.
