Currently an Assistant Professor of the History of Photography at the University of New Mexico, Kevin Mulhearn attended the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, earning a PhD in Art History. He specializes in contemporary global art with a particular interest in the history of photography in Africa, especially South Africa. He has recently published the essay "Success and Failure in African Photography," in the book Photography and Failure: One Medium's Entanglement with Flops, Underdogs and Disappointments.
