Ashley Feagin is an artist and educator living in Battle Creek, Michigan. Her artwork explores queer identity, queer family through photographs, installations, performances,and collaborations. She is the chair of the Faculty Committee on Diversity at Albion College where she works on issues of equity and inclusion that impact both students and faculty alike. Feagin is dedicated to fostering an atmosphere of belonging in her lab and studio by creating accessible and inclusive or all through the physical space and the curriculum. Feagin received her MFA at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana in the spring of 2012.
She is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at Albion College in Albion, Michigan.Ashley also sits on the LGBTQ Caucus board for SPE, the Board of Directors for Battle Creek Pride. She has participated in and facilitated workshops around equity, anti-racism,inclusion, and white privilege. She values her student evaluations as litmus to helping her understand how to improve her classroom and what strategies are working. She believes that equity work is invaluable and deeply needed in higher education.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
