A Feminist View of the Landscape: An Intimate, Political and Emotional Relationship to the Land
Alana Rios was born in Providence, RI and attended Bennington College where she studied photography and printmaking. In 2008 she moved to Oakland, CA where she sought out the darkest skies in California to create images that document how we move through time and space. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Photography at San Jose State University where her long exposure photographs describe a symbiosis between the construction of gender and the landscape.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
